Primary Clinician
I am a Licensed Psychotherapist, National Certified Counselor, Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Life Coach. I am also a Neuro-Linguistics Practitioner. I utilize new age/mind body techniques in my work helping others to take charge of their lives. I have been described by clients and constituents as”Houston’s New Age Counselor” because of my use of alternative adjuncts to traditional psychotherapy.
Prior to becoming a therapist and establishing a private practice, I enjoyed 16 years in the field of education. I have worked for the New Orleans Public School System, the Houston Independent School District and the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District. I have served as a regular education teacher of grades K-5, a special education teacher of grades 6-8 and later 9-12. I also served as a facilitator of a behavioral special education program and also as a school counselor. My approach to counseling is reflective of my experience as an educator in that I primarily subscribe to the Cognitive Behavioral approach, which is hands on, involves the acquisition and utilization of new skills and also advocates homework as a means of practicing skills learned.
My degrees include the following: Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Southern University, Master of Arts in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University, and a Master of Science in Human Sciences from Prairie View A&M University.
I am licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and am authorized to provide counseling and psychotherapy services to individuals, groups and families in the state of Texas. I am also authorized to provide LPC Supervision in the state of Texas.
I specialize in Anxiety Disorder. I also work with with the following conditions: Adjustment Disorders, Child & Adolescent Issues and Bipolar Disorder.
I work with both children (12 and up) and adults.
I am on the following insurance panels: Aetna, Amerigroup, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicaid, Texas Children (Chip, STAR, STAR Plus, STARKids), and Value Options. I am an out of network provider with other panels. Contact me if you wish to see me and are not in network with the above panels.
